Recent Geant4-DNA developments will be demonstrated live during the hands on session. In order to fully participate in the hands of the Geant4-DNA tutorial, you'll need a recent laptop, capable of running a virtual machine with 4 GB RAM under VMware Player and ~20 GB of free disk space. see Geant4 web page under User Support, item 10b ! Geant4 provides several “reference physics lists” which are routinely validated and updated with each release ! these should be considered only as starting points which you may need to modify for your application ! There are also many physics lists in the examples which can copy !

This simple animation explains what is happening under the hood The pdb4dna example can be found in 'extended/medical/dna' Geant4 10.1 and Geant4 10.2 example directory. It simulates energy deposits in a target volume generated from a PDB file representing DNA geometry. Position of energy deposits are used to compute strand breaks in the DNA geometry. After playing with an example successfully, you can understand the GEANT4 structure and then you can start producing your own examples.

Examples and tutorials Several user examples are available directly in Geant4 for the usage of Geant4-DNA processes and models. These examples are located in the $G4INSTALL/examples directory of the Geant4 installation. A README file is provided with each example directly in their source directory.
