Arvell Shaw (September 15, 1923, St. Louis, Missouri – December 5, 2002, Roosevelt, New York) was an American jazz double-bassist, best known for his work with Louis Armstrong.. Shaw learned to play tuba in high school, but switched to bass soon after.
